  46. 1.      Overview
  47.  
  48.         This CD contains the ELSA Display Driver for Microsoft Windows 95.
  49.  
  50.         The driver supports 256, 65536 and 16 Million colors in
  51.         all resolutions available on used ELSA board.

  53.         NOTE:

  55.         It is not possible to use a TV and a computer monitor at the same
  56.         time!

  90. 3.      Installation
  91.

  93. 3.1     First installation of ELSA Display Driver
  94.  
  95.         First install Windows 95 without special drivers for the ELSA
  96.         graphics board. The installation procedure should
  97.         find a PCI VGA-compatible display adapter and ask for a
  98.         "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer".
  99.         - Push the "OK"-button
  100.         - "Copy manufacturer's files from:"
  101.           CD-Drive: this directory (e.g.: E:\VICTORY\ERAZOR\WIN95)
  102.           The neccessary files will be copy and Windows 95 asks for
  103.           restart.
  104.         - Push the "Yes"-button
  105.

  107.         Normally you need to boot your system. Push the button "Restart
  108.         now".
  109.  
  110. 3.2     Manuell installation of ELSA Display Driver
  111.  
  112.         - Start the dialog "Properties for Display" by clicking right
  113.           mouse button on the desktop or per Control Panel.
  114.         - Select the Property Page "Settings"
  115.         - Push the button "Change Display Type...". A dialog "Change
  116.           Display Type" will pop up.
  117.         - Push the button "Change..." inside the frame "Adapter Type".
  118.           You will see the "Select Device" dialog.
  119.         - In this dialog push the button "Have Disk..." and change to
  120.           the WIN95 directory on the ELSAware CD for your WINNER board.
  121.         - Select in the "Manufacturer" list ELSA WINNER Display Driver
  122.           and in the list "Models" your WINNER board.
  123.         - If you use an ELSA monitor, make the same procedure for
  124.           "Monitor Type" in the "Change Display Type" dialog.
  125.         - Close the dialog "Change Display Type". At this time the
  126.           screen flickers a moment. This is not a bug! Windows tries to
  127.           find out, which graphics modes are available with this
  128.           driver.
  129.         - Now you can select resolution and color depth in the main
  130.           dialog "Properties for Display". For the first installation
  131.           you should select 1024x768 and 256 colors. This configuration
  132.           is available for all memory configurations on all ELSA
  133.           Boards.
  134.         - Close "Properties for Display" by "OK" or "Apply
  135.           now".
  136.  
  137.         After the restart the configuration of the ELSA display adapter
  138.         Driver starts from the Windows desktop.
  139.  
  140.         - Start the dialog "Properties for Display" by clicking right
  141.           mouse button on the desktop or per Control Panel.
  142.         - Select the Property Page "Settings" or "ELSA WINman".
  143.           - Property Page Settings:
  144.             Standard-Windows-Dialog for changing resolution, color
  145.             depth and font size.
  146.           - Property Page ELSA WINman
  147.             ELSA WINman gives you full control to configure your ELSA
  148.             display adapter perfectly. You can change resolution, color
  149.             depth and refresh rate, screen position etc.

  151.         Normally you need to boot your system. Push the button "Restart
  152.         now".
  153.  
  154.         In all following Windows sessions you can change the resolution
  155.         without rebooting your system.

  185. 5.      Release notes

  187. 5.1     DirectDraw/Direct3D support
  188.  
  189.         The display driver do support DirectDraw/Direct3D from DirectX 5,
  190.         but to use it in an application, you must install DirectDraw/
  191.         Direct3D. The Microsoft DirectDraw/Direct3D components are not
  192.         included in the standard retail version of Windows 95. You need
  193.         an installation of DirectX 5.
  194.  
  195.         To install DirectDraw/Direct3D use the CDSETUP from your
  196.         WINNERware CD or start the DXSETUP.EXE in the folder:
  197.         Drive:\ELSAWARE\DDRAW\DIRECTX

  199. 5.2     AGP and Windows 95
  200.  
  201.         AGP is supported only by the Windows version OSR-2.1. This is
  202.         available after upgrading a Windows 95b (OSR2) version by the
  203.         USB-Update 'USBSUPP.EXE'.
  204.         The version number of your installed Windows can be found in
  205.         the registry under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
  206.         Windows\CurrentVersion\Version and VersionNumber.

  215. 6.      Known Bugs and Operating Notes
  216.  
  217.         This section documents known anomalies or problems and gives
  218.         hints on work arounds.

  220. 6.1     Version 4.10.01.0300

  222. 6.1.1   Installation over an nVIDIA-driver
  223.  
  224.         If you install the ELSA Display Driver over an nVIDIA Display Driver,
  225.         the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
  226.         OpenGLDrivers\RIVA128 will not actualised. Replace "nv3ogl.dll" with
  227.         "elsaveao.dll"
  228.  
  229. 6.1.2   OpenGL
  230.  
  231.         The hardware support for OpenGL only works only at 16 bpp colordepth 
  232.         up to screenmode 800x600 Pixel.
  233.  
  234.         OpenGL based screensavers, e.g. 3D Pipes, may occur some 
  235.         malfunctions on some systems if powermangement is activated.

  238. 6.1.3   G-Police on TV
  239.  
  240.         If the game G-Police, - possibly other applications too,
  241.         has blit errors, you have to disable the Direct3D
  242.         Anti-Aliasing-Support in the "ELSA D3D-Settings".

  244. 6.1.4   "Quickres" change on TV
  245.  
  246.         If you change the colordepth with quickres on TV-Out and after that
  247.         restarts in DOS-Mode, the screen remains black. So please reboot your 
  248.         PC after changing the screenmode.

  251. 6.1.5   There occur misrepresentation of colors and displays by viewing
  252.         MPEG files with ELSAmotion.
